About
The Jerusalem campus
Following the unification of the Pontifical Gregorian University with the Pontifical Biblical Institute and the Pontifical Oriental Institute, the Pontifical Biblical Institute (PBI) in Jerusalem becomes the Gregorian Campus in the Holy Land.

The Pontifical Biblical Institute in Jerusalem: the Gregorian Campus in the Holy Land
Rooted in the long-standing academic and spiritual tradition of the Gregorian University, the Jerusalem campus is envisioned as a place where students and professors of the Collegio Romano — the name by which the Gregorian University was known in its origins, when it was founded in Rome by St Ignatius of Loyola in 1551 — can engage in study, research, and academic exchange in the land where the biblical and Christian traditions took shape.
The campus seeks to offer courses, academic programmes, and opportunities for research for students and professors of the Gregorian University, creating a distinctive setting in which academic formation is enriched by direct engagement with the geographical, historical, archaeological, cultural, and religious context of the Holy Land.
These programmes will be directed and coordinated by a team of professors of the Gregorian University, in collaboration with local academic and research institutions and with the worldwide network of Jesuit universities and institutions, represented in the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU).

In this way, the Gregorian Campus in Jerusalem aims to serve as a bridge between Rome and the Holy Land, bringing together the intellectual heritage of the Collegio Romano, the academic resources of the Gregorian University, the expertise of local institutions, and the global perspective of Jesuit higher education.
The campus will thus provide a unique environment for study, research, dialogue, and international academic collaboration, contributing to the mission of the Gregorian University and to its presence in the Holy Land.
The Campus offers courses and programmes dedicated to a deeper understanding and experience of Ignatian spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises, which are at the foundation of the educational vision and pedagogical tradition of the Jesuits.
