Research at the Institute

The Research section of the Pontifical Biblical Institute (PBI) website presents the principal areas of scholarly research and academic activity associated with the Institute.

A significant part of this section is devoted to the archaeological excavations at Teleilat Ghassul, including the research, documentation, and publications concerning the archaeological remains and finds brought to light through these excavations.

The section also provides access to and information about the scholarly publications of the professors of the Pontifical Biblical Institute, reflecting their ongoing research in the fields of Biblical Studies, Archaeology, Theology, History of the Church, Ecumenical and Interreligious dialogue, Ancient Near Eastern Studies, and related disciplines.

In addition, this section presents the research seminars held on the campus of the Pontifical Gregorian University in the Holy Land, which provide opportunities for academic exchange, discussion, and collaboration among scholars and researchers.

Finally, the Research section includes relevant publications of the Pontifical Gregorian University, particularly those that contribute to or are closely related to the academic and research activities of the Pontifical Biblical Institute, including Judaism, Islam, Philosophy, Social Sciences, etc.

Together, these resources document the Institute’s commitment to biblical, archaeological, and interdisciplinary research and provide a gateway to the scholarly work carried out within the PBI and in collaboration with the wider academic community.
