Staying at the Institute

We are delighted to welcome you to the PBI and hope that your stay with us will be both pleasant and fruitful.

The PBI community is pleased to welcome guests and to share its spaces and hospitality with you. At the same time, the community observes its own times of prayer and meditation. We therefore kindly ask all guests to respect the quiet of the house by observing silence in the common areas after 22:00.

Meal times

  • Breakfast: until 08:45
  • Lunch: 13:00
  • Dinner: after Mass, around 19:25–19:30

Meals

Our custom is to begin meals together with a prayer of blessing, so we kindly ask you to be punctual. This also helps our employees finish their work on time and return home. In the evening, we kindly ask you to help clear and put away things after dinner.

Although we do not have a formal dress code, we kindly ask that, as a general rule, guests refrain from wearing shorts or sleeveless shirts when attending Mass or meals.

Please indicate in the dining room if you will be absent from a meal. If you will be absent on Sunday, please indicate this by Saturday before noon. If you expect to arrive late for a meal, please make arrangements with the Director or the Minister, who will be happy to assist you.

Access to the kitchen is reserved for employees and staff.

Eucharist

The Eucharist is celebrated daily at 19:00 in English in the chapel and is open to the public. The Saturday evening and Sunday Masses are celebrated according to the liturgy of the respective Sunday or Solemnity.

Concelebrants are most welcome. If you are a priest, please feel free to sign up to be the principal celebrant, especially if you are staying with us for an extended period. Priests are also welcome to celebrate Mass in the chapel before 19:00.

Doors, gates and keys

You will receive a set of three keys:

  • one for your room;
  • one for the small gate;
  • one common key for the external doors and for the library.

During the night, approximately 21:00–06:30, the front gate is locked. When you enter during these hours, please make sure to lock the gate again behind you. At the end of your stay, please leave your keys in the door of your room.
