Rooms
Our rooms provide the basic amenities you will need during your stay. Guests are responsible for keeping their rooms clean. Cleaning supplies are available on each floor, while our staff take care of the common areas.
For your own privacy and out of consideration for other guests, please be aware that the walls between rooms are not soundproof. We therefore ask you to avoid loud conversations in rooms and corridors and to keep phone calls at a reasonable volume, especially in the late evening and during the early afternoon, when others may be resting.
Common rooms
You are very welcome to use the downstairs common room, which has a television, as well as the common room on the terrace level with a refrigerator that you are welcome to use for your personal food and drinks. Please note that the common room on the first floor is reserved for members of the permanent community.
Internet
The password for the P-B-I Wi-Fi network will be furnished. Some rooms are also equipped with an Ethernet network connection.
Laundry
Guests are welcome to use the laundry facilities on the ground floor, including the washing machines, dryers, and ironing facilities. If you need assistance using the machines, please feel free to ask.
For environmental reasons, we kindly ask you to use the washing machines with a reasonably full load and, whenever possible, to use the outdoor clotheslines rather than the dryers. Please note that the washing machine in the first-floor bathroom is reserved for members of the permanent community.
Library
Guests have free access to the library. Please observe the library’s rules concerning the use and return of books and other materials. A number of online resources are also available through the library in Rome.
You are welcome to take books to your room for study. However, please leave the wooden book marker (“phantom”) in its place on the shelf so that the location of the book remains clear. Please do not take books outside the PBI compound without the permission of the Director.
The card catalogue is located in the main reading room. It is currently being digitized and can also be accessed online at biblioteca.biblico.it. When searching online, please select PIB-Gerusalemme under Ricerca avanzata (advanced search).
Health and emergencies
Please make sure that you have adequate health insurance for the duration of your stay.
In the event of an air-raid siren indicating incoming missiles, please proceed immediately to a shelter. The nearest shelters are located on the underground levels of the King David Hotel and the YMCA, both of which are fully accessible. Clear and highly visible signs indicate the routes to these locations.
