The expedition at Teleilat Ghassul
Seven campaigns between 1929 and 1938 and, after a long hiatus, a final one in 1959–60.
The expedition of the Pontifical Biblical Institute was conducted over a total of seven campaigns∗ between 1929 and 1938 and — after a long hiatus — a final one in 1959–60.
The campaigns
- 1st (preliminary reports: 1st and 2nd campaigns): 24.11.1929–28.12.1929 and 04.03.1930–05.04.1930 — Mallon
- 2nd (3rd campaign): 24.11.1930–31.03.1931 — Mallon
- 3rd (4th campaign): 29.11.1931–24.03.1932 — Mallon
- 4th (5th campaign): 27.11.1932–02.04.1933 — Mallon
- 5th (6th campaign): 25.11.1933–05.01.1934 — Mallon
- 6th (7th campaign): 03.02.1936–19.03.1936 — Köppel
- 7th (8th campaign): 03.01.1938–01.03.1938 — Köppel
- 8th: 04.12.1959–20.02.1960 — North
∗ There is a discrepancy in the numbering of the campaigns between the preliminary reports, where the excavations of the first winter are divided into two campaigns, and the final reports, where the excavations of winter 1929–30 are reckoned as one season (see Koeppel et al. 1940: vi and North 1961: 1, note 1). The list numbers the seasons as the final reports do, with the numbering of the preliminary reports in brackets.
